A 5×8" 622-page book, with semi-automatic line justification (28 lines per page), with infratexts and footnotes, and a fine-tuned nested ¶-style for the dramatis personæ’s names in the plays. The display type is FLF Arpona, a wedge serif design inspired by Roman letters carved in stone. Typesetting time: 6 weeks in 65 design sessions; 21 proofing files.

The cover features a photograph of Robert Musil, Ea Allesch (one of the models for Alpha in Vinzenz and the Mistress of Important Men), Martha Musil, an unidentified Pierrot, and Franz Blei. The title is set in FLF Arpona. Musil’s signature was digitized in vector graphics for scalability and expressive use in black & white.
The book and its cover was subject of a design educational exercise at Binghamton University.
