Typesetting details:

A 5×8" 128-page book with semi-automatic line justification (28 lines per page). A text, set outdented, divided into many groupings, a play for 7 personæ. Translated by Daniel Boden and with an afterword by philosopher Simon Critchley (New School University). Since Boden’s translation is true to the voice, times, and incongruities of Rousseau, I wanted my design and typographic composition to enhance the content based on the same qualities. Typesetting time: 4 weeks in 14 design sessions; 8 proofing files.

Cover design details:

5×8", spine size 0.273" (128 pp.).
Cover design features Gyula Benczúr’s painting Narcissus (1881) fading into black, and the display typeface Adobe Nyx. Named after the Greek goddess of night, Nyx reveals classic Roman capital forms under its sharp, stenciled, energetic surface.
