Typesetting details:

A 5×8" 512-page book with custom single- line composition (28 lines per page), three languages (English, Portuguese, and French). World Premiere edition. This highly complex typesetting with more than a thousand footnotes led me to write a paper — on the devised method of typesetting — that I presented at the 5th Meeting of Typography in Portugal in 2014, and that was edited, revised, and published in the Book of Proceedings in the fall 2015. One of the slides illustrates the pagination starting from zero. Typesetting time: 12 weeks in 144 design sessions; 27 proofing files.

Cover design details:

5×8", spine size 1.029" (512 pp.).
Cover design features a transformation/adaptation of the painting Bibliotekarien by Giuseppe Arcimboldo (ca. 1566, oil on canvas, 91×71 cm. Skoklosters Slott, Bålsta, Sweden). The typeface is ITC Legacy Sans, a solid humanistic sans (also used for headings). The design was presented at the 5th Meeting of Typography in Portugal in 2014.
